Wiggum, I don't know exactly which story they are doing first. I don't remember where, but about a month ago I read somewhere that they did start filming. My guess is 'The Mystery of the Blue Train'.
Anyone knows out there? |

Thank you, Wiggum, for giving us this information about the new Poirot movies! I'm looking forward to them all, especially "Cards on the Table" and "Taken at the Flood."

Wiggum: I want to echo PoirotLover's question about where you found that information about the new episodes!
(I haven't searched for it. I've actually been really really busy. That's why I haven't added new stuff for my site. At least I've done some artistic changes to this forum.)
PoirotLover, I am curious how the producers will handle "Taken at the Flood". A great an excellent character study! I hope the producers don't alter the characters at all.
In regards to "Cards on the Table", I'm sure the producers might add flashbacks to the story when retelling each of the villains' crimes. The filmmakers better keep Ariadne Oliver in the story and the actress better be excellent! (Then we'll be able to have Oliver for the other stories, such as Halloween Party and Dead Man's Folly and others). |

Elliott Gould and Lindsay Duncan Head Supporting Cast Of The Mystery Of The Blue Train
David Suchet is to return to ITV1 as Agatha Christies celebrated Belgian detective in four brand-new POIROT adventures.
Filming begins this week on The Mystery Of The Blue Train, with a supporting cast headed by American film star Elliott Gould with Lindsay Duncan, Jaime Murray, Josette Simon, Roger Lloyd Pack and James DArcy.
The first two weeks filming will be at locations on the French Riviera, followed by filming at locations in the UK.
The Mystery Of The Blue Train will be followed by productions of Agatha Christies Poirot adventures Cards On The Table, After The Funeral, and Taken At The Flood.
In the first film, Poirot travels on the renowned Blue Train from Calais to the French Riviera with a motley collection of English socialites, and Ruth Kettering (Jaime Murray - Hustle), beautiful daughter of American oil magnate Rufus Van Aldin (Elliott Gould Friends, Oceans 11 &12) who has lavished on her the magnificent ruby the Heart of Fire.
Van Aldin is intent on securing Ruths divorce from her louche husband Derek Kettering (James DArcy Master And Commander, Nicholas Nickleby ), who is on the train as is her lover La Roche (Oliver Milburn The Forsyte Saga, Tess Of The DUrbervilles).
I do not think we shall be bored, thinks Poirot to himself, as Lady Tamplin (Lindsay Duncan Under The Tuscan Sun, Perfect Strangers, An Ideal Husband ), her young husband Corky (Tom Harper) and daughter Lenox (Alice Eve) hastily join the departing train.
And boredom is the last thing on all the passengers minds when, while the express thunders through the French night, death strikes in compartment number seven.
Other cast members include Georgina Rylance, Nicholas Farrell and Bronagh Gallagher.
The POIROT stories are co-produced by Granada and Agatha Christie Ltd, a Chorion company, and US network A&E Network.
Michele Buck and Damien Timmer, of Granada, Phil Clymer of Chorion, and Delia Fine, of A&E, are executive producers of POIROT, with David Suchet as associate producer.
The new series of POIROT will be produced by Trevor Hopkins and The Mystery Of The Blue Train is directed by Hettie Macdonald .
Michele Buck, Controller of Granada Drama, London, said: The return of David Suchet as Poirot and the strength of the cast gathered around him for our first film is great news for ITV drama and the viewers.
The reaction of the audience, particularly Agatha Christies many fans, for our previous four films, was so positive, and we are confident that the new quartet of films will live up to their high expectations.
Phil Clymer said: With sales to more than 80 countries around the world, the Poirot dramas are among Britains most successful television exports. This is in large part to the magical combination of the timeless themes and intricate plotting inherent in Christies original stories, A-list casting and feature film-style production values. I have no doubt this new series will continue to delight audiences around the world.
In 2003, ITV and LWT brokered a landmark output deal with Agatha Christie Ltd, part of the rights company Chorion, giving them the exclusive rights to dramatise the entire Agatha Christie collection for classic adaptations, including the legendary Poirot and Miss Marple. Miss Marple, played by Geraldine McEwan, made her debut on ITV1 last year.
Granada International, who brokered the deal with A&E Network, holds worldwide distribution rights.
Granada Internationals collection of Agatha Christies Poirot adaptations has proved to be an international success story, selling to 83 territories worldwide and consistently rating as one of the top 20 best-selling UK programmes for the past five years.

No disrespect to David Suchet or your views, but Poirot is less than half the programme it was without Miss Lemon, Japp and Hastings. David Suchet, on his own, is a rather precious, almost odious figure without the softening influence of these three excellent characters.
I, for one, shan't be watching the new ones. |
